Managing Course Comments
How to control who can comment on your course lessons, view recent comments, and configure comment visibility per lesson or module.
Managing Course Comments
Comments let your course participants ask questions, share insights, and interact with you directly inside the course. You have full control over who can comment, where comments appear, and which lessons allow them.
Accessing comments
Go to your course product and click the Comments tab. Here you'll see all comment activity and settings for that course. Watch this step (0:00)
You can filter by module to see comments from a specific section, or view all comments across the entire course.
Who can comment
On the right side of the comments page, you choose who's allowed to leave comments. Watch this step (0:19)
You have three options:
| Setting | Who can comment | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Instructor Only | Only you (the instructor) can post | Announcements, one-way updates |
| Public | Everyone enrolled in the course | Open discussion, Q&A, community feel |
| User Selection | You choose specific people | Moderated discussions, VIP groups |
For most wellness courses, Public works well — it creates a sense of community and lets participants support each other. If you're concerned about managing conversations, start with Public and switch to Instructor Only later if needed.
Viewing recent comments
The comments section shows all recent comments from your course participants. You can see who said what, when they said it, and which lesson it's connected to. Watch this step (0:37)
You can set up email notifications so you're alerted every time someone leaves a comment — no need to check manually. Go to Client Portal → Settings → Email Settings → Courses and enable the Course Comments notification. This way you can respond quickly, which keeps learners engaged.
Controlling where comments appear
You don't have to allow comments everywhere. For each lesson or module, you can decide whether comments are visible, hidden, or locked. Watch this step (0:55)
Your options for each lesson:
- Show comments — participants can see and leave comments on this lesson
- Hide comments — no comment section visible at all
- Lock comments — the comment section is visible but participants can't post new ones (useful for older lessons you want to archive)
This gives you granular control. For example, you might want comments open on workshop-style lessons where discussion adds value, but hidden on simple resource pages where there's nothing to discuss.
Tips for managing comments well
- Respond within 24 hours — timely responses show participants you're engaged and care about their progress
- Pin important comments — if someone asks a question that others will benefit from, consider addressing it prominently
- Use comments as content ideas — if the same question keeps coming up, it might be worth adding a FAQ section or extra lesson to address it
- Set expectations early — in your course introduction, let participants know how comments work and how quickly they can expect a response from you
